The Bandpox experiment is all about eliminating unpredictable variables and optimizing a band's marketing effectiveness. The following tool will check how "market-friendly" a band name is, based on some of the suggestions in my "Naming the Band" posts. It investigates potential problems with the band name and presents possible solutions. In most cases, the best solution is to change the name. However, these are merely suggestions. I know that there are established bands out there that have found success without following all of these guidelines, but that doesn't mean that they haven't struggled because of it.

That being said, it should help to identify some of the potential headaches that one might encounter with a band name as a result of common misspellings, name-to-URL translations, the handling of special characters, and the effects of human error in "word-of-mouth" viral music marketing.
