Flickr is a photo sharing site now owned by Yahoo. You can upload and edit your photos, map their locations, group them into categories, and share them with others. There are numerous ways to upload your photos, including via email and iPhone. A band might want to upload concert photos the night of a show directly from their cell, or share their album cover art with would-be fans. I have heard of bands sustaining good press and getting repeat visits to their Flickr pages by posting timely photos of fans that were taken during live events. Flickr uses a service called Picnik to offer some great and easy-to-use editing features. Aside from the necessary cropping, resizing, and red eye removal, a number of additional special visual effects are available. You can add your photos to Flickr user groups so that you get some cross-traffic, too.
On top of that, you can order prints from your photos and a wide range of photo-embellished products like cards and calendars. Photos can also be marked as "private" and access can be restricted to family and friends. Flickr is arguably the top photo sharing site available at the time of this report. It is also the most popular.
